Hanoi City Walk (ENG): Communal Houses within Hàng Gai Ward – FULL

This compact 2-hour walking tour will take you to Hanoi’s Old Quarter to explore the 3 communal houses of the Hang Gai Ward – Hà Vỹ, Tú Thị, Yên and Thái. Each site, with the different gods and historical figures they worship, tell a distinct story of the locals, their craft and their reverence for the past. Join us to learn about the controversial empress Ỷ Lan, about pioneers of craft industries who migrated to Hanoi’s inner core and settled here generations ago and so much more.

Also since 18 August falls on 15 July lunar calendar, this is the very day that the gates to the underworld are opened, there may have a chance to observe the absolution ceremony for the wandering souls (Vu Lan festival day also known as the Ghost Festival or Hungry Ghost Festival).
