Tour (English): Behind the scenes – State Records & Archives Department of Vietnam

October 18, 2019 @ 2:00 PM - 4:30 PM

70,000VND

A fascinating look behind the scenes at the State Records and Archives Department of Vietnam Centre no. 1 which holds pre-1945 documents, with a major concentration from the Nguyen Dynasty 1802-1945 which includes the French Colonial period. As the period is pre-1945 the archives also holds documents long before Nguyen Dynasty, the oldest document dates from the 15th century in 1488.  5km of documents are stored here.

The Director and some of her team will take us on a fascinating behind the scenes tour. See how paper documents, film, audio and photos are catalogued and stored. The tour includes learning about the Royal approval on official documents of the Nguyen Dynasty (Châu bản triều Nguyễn) and how old documents are restored and preserved. We end the tour at the Archives’ fascinating short exhibition on the history of Hanoi.

The State Records and Archives Department of Vietnam is a very active department which holds and manages many events and exhibitions throughout Vietnam.

FVH is privileged to have this unique partnership with the archives allowing us to be able to offer these tours.
