Fossils of Vietnam guided tour at the Vietnam National Museum of Nature

June 8 @ 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

150,000VND

Fossils of Vietnam

@ the Vietnam National Museum of Nature (VNMN) (Bảo tàng Thiên nhiên Việt Nam)

What was Vietnam like millions of years ago? Join us for an exclusive look behind the scenes at the Paleontological section at the National Museum of Nature.   Dr. Doan Dinh Hung curated the collection and his team will explain where Vietnam’s rocks come from, show us their favourite fossils, and take us on a tour of the museum’s galleries. (originally Dr Hung himself would be our guide but he has to be out of Hanoi on business this weekend so one of team will take us on the museum tour).

We are really excited to have the chance to visit. This lesser-known museum may not be a common one for people to visit. It opened in March 2006 and is inside the Academy of Science and Technology.  On display are nearly 1,400 specimens across more than 300sqm spanning 3.6 billion years of the origins of life and nature in Vietnam. The museum team carries out research, collects, preserves, stores, inspects, and exhibits specimens of biology, geology-geography, anthropology (archaeology), and documents of nature and natural resources in Vietnam and abroad.

We hope this is the first of many events we can do with the museum and its sub branches.
