In 2023 we started to run some workshops with Huyen of Textile Linker fame. She teamed up with Thuy who founded Chie Dù Pù Dù Pà in Hang Trong street to run craft workshops. Huyen is busy with many of her own projects at the moment but we are starting to run workshops again with Chie.
This January we are making 2 little textile animals – a cat and a tiger. This workshop is suitable for both advanced and the less skilled but may be a bit more fiddly than others. The items are small, the bodies are pre-sewn and we stuff them with cotton, sewing the last section by hand, we make and sew on the faces and add the facial features of eyes, noses, whiskers etc. They are such cute little animals.
These 2 animals feature in the Vietnamese animal zodiac in the following order
rat, buffalo, tiger, cat, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig.
The Tiger – Hổ. The Tiger is powerful and captivating, rebellious and passionate. Devoted to family never complaining, hard working and intelligent.
The Cat – Mèo. The cat (in Vietnam) replaces the rabbit (in the Chinese calendar). The Cat is creative, cautious and conservative. Talented and ambitious but prone mood swings.
Numbers – Min 5, very max 10 people for this workshop to run.
Amount – VND 390,000 pp, includes instruction, all materials, herbal tea, and green bean cake. and 2 animals each.
Venue – Chie Dù Pù Dù Pà, in Hang Trong street
