Behind the scenes + exhibition tour – State Records & Archives Department of Vietnam centre 1
May 23, 2023 @ 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM150,000VND
RECORDS OF VIETNAM PRE-1945
Since 2019 FVH has been in the honoured position of being able to arrange fascinating tours behind the scenes, small round table discussions with the archives staff, private tours of their in-house exhibitions, as well as attending larger scale events, of the State Records and Archives Department of Vietnam Centre 1 and 3.
Today we visit centre 1. This holds pre-1945 documents, with a major concentration from the Nguyen Dynasty 1802-1945 and the French Colonial period. As the period is pre-1945 the archives also holds documents long before Nguyen Dynasty, the oldest document dates from the 15th century in 1488.
We will meet some of the archives staff and have some round table discussion and sharing about the work carried about by centre 1. They will explain about how the documents are stored (we are not currently able to visit the storage area as its temporarily out of bounds to visitors but there is a replication in the exhibition we will visit). They will share information about the organisation of the Archives and we have time for Q&A followed by going behind the scenes to visit some of the departments in operation.
- Introduction to the Archives organisation and structure and Q&A
- Short info film on the Archives (Vietnamese with ENG subtitles)
- Visit the reading room
- Visit the document restoration workshop
