Excursion (half day p.m) – Mid-Autumn festival star lantern workshop & Hậu Ái village communal house
August 24 @ 3:00 PM - 6:30 PM
350,000VNDCOMMUNAL HOUSE VISIT AND MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL STAR LANTERN WORKSHOP.
Every Vietnamese child dreams about an amazing Tết Trung Thu with his/her own brightly lit lantern and a feeling full from munching on mooncakes. Tết Trung Thu or Mid-autumn Festival, is also known in Vietnam as the “Children’s Festival”.
This year, the Mid-autumn Festival falls on September 17th, 2024, which is the middle of the eighth lunar month. However, preparations begin far in advance. The run up to the festival is always the best part of any festival, and the Moon Festival is no exception. FVH is organizing this half day excursion with the goal of spreading the lovely and enjoyable atmosphere to as many people as possible, especially for children.
We meet artisan Nguyễn Thị Tuyến, who lives in Hậu Ái village, Vân Canh commune, Hoài Đức district, (a suburb of Hanoi). In the first part, we will bring offerings to the Hậu Ái communal house and listen to the story of tutelary god worshipped here. This is followed by visiting the artisan at her home. She will share about this unique lantern making profession and we each have a chance to make our own mid-Autumn festival star lantern with her guidance.
Mrs Tuyến is very busy in the run up to the festival but she is very happy to know FVH wants to visit her and do a workshop, and she has made the afternoon free for us. So we are very honoured. We hope you will have a lovely time at this 2 part afternoon/early evening event.
