Music – The Hope Choir: Vietnam War Invalids and Martyrs Day concert
July 26, 2023 @ 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM
THE HOPE CHOIR.
If you have not heard The Hope Choir sing before you will undoubtedly be impressed. If you already know them then they need no introduction. They are a group of blind and severely visually impaired singers and folk musicians. They are amazing– not because of their impaired vision but because they are superb singers. The choir was set up about 20 years ago by pianist Tôn Thất Triêm and his opera singer wife Xuân Thành. What they have achieved with minimal funds and little resource is incredible.
Triêm teaches the choir the meaning of each word, they transcribe the lyrics into braille, and sing in the language of that song.
So, lets join the choir and celebrate on Wednesday evening 26 July the day before the Invalids and Martyrs Day which is 27 July. The concert starts at 7.30pm so arrive about 7.10pm/7.15pm to get a seat. Lasts probably 1 hour to 1 hr 30 mins.
They will perform a selection of songs and medleys and folk music. The venue is one of the best in Hanoi for sound acoustics.
There is no entry cost but the choir will highly appreciate and needs donations no matter how big or how small. Every little bit is a great help to them.
Venue 3rd floor, 50 Dao Duy Tu, Cultural Exchange Centre, Hanoi Old Quarter. https://goo.gl/maps/a5uadZ1nng8yYVGo9
