Join us for a midweek stroll around Lê Duản street and the surrounding area. Starting at Cửa Nam we explore the history of the former Cửa Nam gate, the nearby streets and stories of the area, who was the ‘French Lady with the flared skirt, where were parasols were traded, which is one of Hanoi’s original Phở gà stalls, what used to be where Quan An Ngon is, where was the Mandarin road, what was originally on the site of Hanoi railway station and so on …..
Most of what we talk about has long gone, as the area has been built up and many places pulled down so we will supplement with memories and photos of what hopefully will be an eclectic whistle stop tour through history.
