Join us for a stroll around Lê Duản street and the surrounding area for our Christmas Day morning walk.
Starting at Cửa Nam, we explore the history of the former south gate, the nearby streets and their stores . Who was the ‘French Lady with the flared skirt, where were parasols were traded, which is one of Hanoi’s original Phở gà stalls, what used to be where ‘Quan An Ngon’ is, where was the Mandarin road, what was originally on the site of Hanoi railway station, who was the man himself – Lê Duản and so on …..
Most of what we talk about has sadly long gone so we supplement with memories, stories and photos of what hopefully will be an eclectic whistle-stop tour through history of the Lê Duản area.
