“Cyclo” is set 20 years after 1975’s fall of Saigon and follows a young cyclo driver (Le Van Loc), forced into crime when his rickshaw is stolen. The movie is like a rocking symphony revealing man’s deep consciences when confronting goodness and evil in the context of turbulent social conditions. At the same time, it reflects the director’s eyes towards various corners of Saigon in its early vivid development stage from slums to narrow valleys and old apartment buildings. The movie is considered a “masterpiece of visual cinematography” by international audiences thanks to is strongly vibrant and impactful scenes and images. “An extraordinary and definitely a must-see” movie” (Time Out).
The movie was directed by Tran Anh Hung, a talented Vietnamese-born French film director. His films including “Cyclo” have received international fame and acclaim . The film also won the Golden Lion at the Venice International Film Festival in 1995.
Film is 129-minute long with English subtitles.
