18 April 2024 is Hùng Kings commemoration day (10th day of the 3rd lunar month)
Hùng Vương (2879 BC – 258 BC) ….. Vương means “king”, Hùng means “hero”
‘Each year on 10th day of the 3rd lunar month, Vietnamese people turn towards the Kính Thiên Palace on the summit of Nghĩa Lĩnh mountain in Phú Thọ Province, to commemorate the Hùng Kings who are regarded as the first founders of Vietnam’.
A pilgrim said: “Whoever goes back and forth, remember the ancestor’s death anniversary on 10th March”
Dr Trần Doãn Lâm will take us on a whistlestop tour of the Hùng kings era including popular and significant legends associated with the kings and the commemorative festival as we explore who these kings were.
This is a fascinating topic not recently been covered by FVH in detail and a very appropriate one for this month.
Venue: Dinh Lang Viet Space, in the heart of the Trung Tu/Dang Van Ngu dormitory area. For those not familiar with the venue detailed information will be sent to those confirmed on the event.
