An amazing/unique event for FVH and we are so excited to be privileged to arrange this activity.
Meet the very warm, kind hearted Mr Đào Xuân Tình at his Long Bien home. He is the: Vietnam National Record holder, the Asian record holder and the World Records Union(WorldKings) holder for the largest collection of French Peugeot bikes. His collection goes back to the early 1900s and includes around 128 authentic Peugeot bikes made in France, all in excellent condition with genuine parts. The oldest was manufactured in 1918 and is still functional.
Years before in Vietnam, during the hardship period and ‘closed door’ policies everything was purchased with coupons, not money and cycles became the dream vehicle of many families. The image of the French bicycle such as the Peugeot or Mercie, was deeply engraved in the minds of the north Vietnamese. The value of these bikes at the time was often greater than buying a house (incidently, it was only the north of Vietnam that the Peugeot bike had this high value, not in the south). Tinh has spent the past 20+ years amassing his amazing collection. He has a team of around 6 people who maintain and repair them. Each bike is like a person to him with a ‘birth’ certificate, history and story. He will tell us about his life and how he and his wife became interested in the bikes, the lives of some of his collection, how he finds them, how they are cared for etc. and many many other stories.
Tinh is very very passionate about his bikes and expect him to share his stories in depth so the event will last about 3 hours 2pm-5pm. We visit part of his collection in his home and then to his nearby display showroom. Tinh loves Vietnam’s heritage and hence is one reason he is delighted to collaborate with FVH.
Due to limited space just 10 to max 12 spaces available. Once full we will have a waiting list. Tinh is an extremely busy man often not in Hanoi so we are honoured he has been able to make time for us.
