Craft workshop (a.m): mini ethnic minority fabric conical hat decoration – nearly full

Since 2023 we have teamed up with Chie to run a monthly craft workshop on a Saturday or Sunday (a.m or p.m) aiming to make one product from the shop that is not too difficult. Some items are not practical to make so we stick with an item that can be made in a few hours. We have probably made most things now so we are repeating some of the previous workshops.
However, this month we have a new product. Recently introduced into the shop is a little conical hat covered in a variety of ethinic minority fabrics (greens, yellow, orange, red etc….). This month’s workshop is based on this hat, which will be adapted by combining elements of another workshop (the little stuffed material cube hanging decorations). Hence, we make a new hat version to give more variety and complexity for our workshop. The photo below may not be very clear. So, to explain…. the material is pre-cut (into a big circle). We cover the hat with our chosen colour fabric and glue it on. We hand sew the edges all the way round making the edges neat and tidy. (For those who are more advanced at sewing you are welcome to embroider decoration on the material before glueing). Now the enhanced part – we thread beads and make little wool pompoms attaching them to the edges of the hat (as many as you like) before attaching a string at the top thereby transforming the conical hat into a hanging decoration. (And if you like when we repeat this workshop in other months you can come and make another one each time and then create a hanging mobile)
As this is more complex than it may sound the Chie team advise we concentate on making 1 hat each with the decorations.
