Nguyễn Cẩm Nhung graduated in Silk painting from the Fine Arts University and was taught by one of FVH’s lovely friends – artist Nguyễn Thế Sơn. Nhung is running a silk painting workshop and talk for FVH in a great venue – Đình Nam Hương (Nam Huong communal house in Hàng Trống street). The morning is split into 2 parts and hopefully you will have a lovely Sunday morning.
part 1
History of Vietnamese silk painting
Difference between VN, Chinese and Japanese silk painting
Types of silk for painting and clothing
How to stretch and secure the silk
How to draw on silk
How to use water as an art technique
Reference will be made to the silk paintings on display at the communal house to support the talk and to help give inspiration for when we producer our own artwork.
part 2
We each create an A4 silk painting based on either a Hang Trong or Dong Ho painting – instruction is given how do this
Cost includes the talk and all materials.
Minimum number for this workshop to take place = 6 people
max 12 people. Deadline for registration is 18 May. (If less than 6 people register then we will move the event to June).
Please RSVP to stella@fvheritage.org
The workshop starts early as the session lasts 3 hours and the painting session takes place in the courtyard at the back of the communal house. We are mindful of the hot weather hence the early start.
