The Zó project is a social enterprise set up to preserve and support the production of Vietnamese traditional paper (dó paper) and its making technique in a sustainable and creative way. It was founded by Trần Hồng Nhung and her young dynamic team wishes to bring back traditional values into modern society. In return, profits are ploughed back into the community of paper-makers to create more job opportunities and stable incomes for the ethnic minority village in Hoa Binh.
FVH and Zó team up regularly to run small workshops for FVH members. [You can also book direct but we have a discounted rate and the workshops are dedicated for us].
Since Covid 19 Zó Project has had to downsize and readjust and is operating more on line but they have a stall in Syrena Shopping centre Xuan Dieu and they still run workshops.
This month’s Zó Project workshop is a new one – held in a tea ‘house’ where we make a picture on dó paper decorated with dried flowers and leaves
This is a new idea/workshop and is part 1 of 2 sessions.
Welcome to Quán Trà Vô Vi tea house in Ba Dinh;
Mini tea ceremony and explanation from the tea shop owner;
Introduction to dó paper and how it is made;
Make our own A4 dó paper picture decorated with dried flowers and plants (can have any design – abstract, decorative, landscape etc).
(part 2 will be in August where we ‘frame/mount’ our pictures and learn about the art of ‘framing’/mounting calligaphic art in a wonderful studio hidden away in Ha Dong. NB – you can still take part in session 2 if you have not joined part 1)
Duration: appx 1.5 to 2 hours (feel free to stay longer to enjoy the cafe)
Max no of participants: 10
Discounted for FVH members 350,000 vnd pp (prices the same for adults, students and children as this is a direct cost to Zó) – covers mini tea ceremony and the tea, material for making our picture and donation for the Hoa Binh paper making families. Other drinks at the tea shop are an additional personal cost
Welcome email and meeting instructions will be sent to those who RSVP
