Helping to preserve and support the production of Vietnamese traditional paper (dó paper) and its making technique in a sustainable and creative way. In return, profits are ploughed back into the community of paper-makers to create more job opportunities and stable incomes for the ethnic minority village in Hoa Binh.
A fun afternoon as we learn the basics of calligraphic writing using a brush and ink, learning about the different brush strokes, thickness of lines, proportion etc.
We write on dó paper and for those new to this traditional Vietnamese paper we start with a short presentation on how this paper is made.
The afternoon’s workshop will cover:
-Vietnamese Calligraphy
· Watch how the teacher demonstrates writing some of words such as: Peace,
Happiness, Love
· Learn how to hold the brush and dot ink
· Learn to write basic strokes
· Practice with sample characteristics
· Write your name or a word that is important to you
· A chance to be creative
And frame your creation to take home
