135 years ago on 19 May 1890 Hồ Chí Minh was born (and he died on 2 September 1969) so the day before on 18 May we have what will now be an annual lecture during May – looking at his legacy, the man himself and his ideology. We first held this talk last May.
To quote Britannica – ‘As the leader of the Vietnamese nationalist movement for nearly three decades, Hồ was one of the prime movers of the post-World War II anti-colonial movement in Asia and one of the most influential communist leaders of the 20th century.’
President Hồ Chí Minh took the path to socialism, which the Communist Party of Vietnam and the nation have followed ever since. His ideology is a political philosophy based on Marxism-Leninism. He was also influenced by traditional VN values and culture, Eastern cultural thought, Western ideologies, and his own personal morality and from this created what is known as Hồ Chí Minh Thought.
Dr Trần Doãn Lâm will present about uncle Hồ – a huge topic but Lâm is skilled at summarising expansive topics in an easy to understand, quick way.
This fascinating lecture will focus on 3 main areas about Hồ Chí Minh:
- His biography and profile
- His revolutionary career
- ending with Hồ Chí Minh Thought
And… as its uncle Hồ’s 135th birthday we end with a birthday cake in his honour.
