‘SILVER, COFFEE, REVOLUTION AND ICE CREAM’
A very short distance as the crow flies. But we take the long way round zig zagging up and down the streets in this familiar area of the Old Quarter to discover the unfamiliar – from Đinh Liệt and Hàng Bạc to Cầu Gỗ and Nguyễn Hữu Huân streets. We touch on many subjects from the birth of silver making in Hanoi, how Hong Kong cinema came to share space with Cải Lương folk opera, and the novel Dumb Luck (by Vũ Trọng Phụng) to the combination of ice cream and revolution (ice cream is no longer sold here though), and the infinite fascination with cafes.
