LANTERNS FOR MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL (morning/afternoon workshops)
Each year on the 15th day of the 8th month (this year in the solar calendar its 6 October) Vietnam celebrates the mid-autumn festival – Tết Trung Thu; hence, in preparation, some of our September events have a mid-autumn festival theme and flavour.
This is 1 of 2 lantern workshops we will do this month (the 2nd one is part of an excursion and is very traditional).
Lanterns, as you may or may not know, are essential features of this occasion.
They come in all different colours, shapes, sizes and material.
So we thought this is the ideal time to make our own lanterns with our Dó paper workshop partner, Cham do. Its an intricate workshop that needs time hence this is a 3 hour workshop run with 2 sessions as its max 6 people per worskhop.
Here is a video – our workshop will be based on this but also a bit different as the main material used is dó paper – see youtube link.
Included in the workshop
- All material and instruction
- And a short talk on do paper (for those who are not familiar with this material)
- And your lovely lantern to take home (which hopefully looks like the one in the video)
As this is a lot more intricate to make and bigger than the other items we run craft workshops for, more time and material are needed hence a higher workshop fee compared to others but it will be worth it. (same price for everyone as we have expenses to cover)
Workshop lasts about 3 hours
Venue: address will be sent to those confirmed on the workshop – its in Phan Đình Phùng street, Ba Dinh
Numbers: 6 per workshop (6 a.m and 6 p.m total 12)
RVSP: to stella@fvheritage.org
Amount: 500,000 VND
