We start on Trần Hưng Đạo street focusing on the man himself, the area’s development, the origns of Central Military hospital 108, then we go up Lê Thánh Tông street,  and over the road to Chương Dương Ward ending with General Trần Hưng Đạo on the banks of the Red River.  Through this route we explore some hidden gems and alleys you may not know exist.

Through 4 interwined parts of this walk, topics range from the connection between President Hồ Chí Minh and 108 military hospital, where Hanoi’s 2nd water tower built by the French is located, why a beer hall  (no longer exists) was known as parachute beer, where Hanoi’s very first gabeled roof house was, to the significance of grooves in the walls along the dyke road, what remains of an interesting wooden khu tập thể (condominium) area before ending the walk at the Red River at one of Hanoi’s very few and a less well known temples dedicated to General Trần Hưng Đạo.

A long route packed with information please allow up to 3 hours.

Meet: Outside hospital 108. We end at the Red River no where near the starting point.  Full details and exact meeting point will be sent to those confirmed on the walk
