A NEW WORKSHOP INSPIRED BY THE OLD WROUGHT IRON GATES AND BACLONIES
Back with young artists Linh and Nhung in their Kim Ma studio. They have devised a lino cut monoprint on dó paper workshop. We print images (2 artworks each) depicting wrought iron gills (from French colonial architecture). Includes an introductory talk and presentation on the topic, reference to the wrought iron railings and design that inspired the workshop topic. Linh and Nhung take reference from art researcher Trần Hậu Yên Thế who researched very single wrought iron balcony, gate and decoration in Hanoi from the French era (NB – Yên Thế is a good friend of FVH, and pre-covid we had a presentation with him on this very topic we will aim to hold it again as its truly fascinating). The workshop includes the carving process.

Due to the amount of time it takes, Linh and Nhung propse 2 people doing the lino cut for one image so we share the ‘carving’ work, and then make 2 prints each.
Cost. The materials, time and instruction for this workshop means its more expensive than our normal ones. A special discounted cost for FVH of VND 500,000 pp (actual fee is VND 570,000)
Numbers. Due to the space needed for us to spread out its max 6 people per room and we can use both Linh and Nhung’s rooms so max 12 pax.
Venue: their new studio 53/409 Kim Mã Street, (venue location/how to find the studio will be sent in the welcome email for those confirmed on the workshop)
RSVP: to stella@fvheritage.org
