Music – The Hope Choir: Spring/Tet recital

February 7 @ 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM

On Saturday evening 7 February the Hope Choir have a recital at Hàng Bột church on Tôn Đức Thắng near the Temple of Literature. They will perform a medley of folk music and songs to welcome the Tet lunar new year and they will also dedicate their performance to friendship in the community and for peace in the world.

ABOUT THE HOPE CHOIR.

If you have not heard The Hope Choir sing before you will undoubtedly be impressed.  If you already know them then they need no introduction.  They are a group of blind and severely visually impaired singers and folk musicians. They are amazing – not because of vision impairment but because they are superb singers.  The choir was formed about 20 years ago by pianist Tôn Thất Triêm and his opera singer wife Xuân Thành. What they have achieved with minimal funds, limited conditions and very little resource is incredible.

Triêm teaches the choir the meaning of each word, they transcribe the lyrics into braille, and sing in the language of that particular song.

Everyone is warmly welcome to come along to Hàng Bột church where the choir has been invited to perform. Start time is currently TBC but its in the evening time any time between 6.30pm and 7pm.  More info on the time to come.*

We think they are probably singing after the mass taking place at the church.

No entry fee but the choir highly appreciate, and needs, donations no matter how big or how small. Every little bit is a great help to them as they rely solely on the community’s help.

Venue: Hàng Bột Church, 62a Tôn Đức Thắng street.  https://maps.app.goo.gl/c1wt4PkKigQuea849

No RSVP needed but for questions or more info on the venue, please contact*  stella@fvheritage.org.

Thank you so much everyone on behalf of Triêm and the choir.

Advance info – we also hope that one Saturday or Sunday this April two of our super lovely FVH friends will be hosting the choir at their home in Tay Ho to sing for the community  – more info to come.
