A walk that will take us from the Hang Dau water tower to Hòe Nhai street and Hòe Nhai Pagoda, along Hang Than taking a route to Long Bien rail station and Long Bien Bridge following the viaduct. We start and end at feats of engineering from the French time – the first that helped provide clean fresh water and the 2nd now one of Hanoi’s most beloved and majestic symbols. Learn about the history of the area, what used to be grown by courtiers along Hòe Nhai street, what is the story behind a unique statue in Hòe Nhai pagoda*, what are some of the special foods of this area, what the streets were famed for in the past and what their modern day activities are now. An eclectic walk that will be colourful in the run up to Tet.
