SUMMARY:Film night for November - Dạ Cổ Hoài Lang
DESCRIPTION:“Dạ Cổ Hoài Lang” – “Night drumbeats causes longing for absent husband”  is a 2017 movie by Director Nguyen Quang Dung.\,  A common ENG translation of the title is also Hello Vietnam\, although this movie it doesn’t have a formal ENG title. \nIt is a family drama based on a moving story that takes place over the course of 1 day.   Ong Tu (Hoai Linh) sneaks out of a retirement home to celebrate his wife’s death anniversary. The granddaughter (Tammy) at home is not happy with this. Ong Nam is Ong Tu’s friend\, who comes over\, and they talk about their similar lives\, how they grew up together\, loved the same girl and now met each other on a foreign land and then both celebrated their first love’s anniversary. Because of the generational age gap and differences in culture\, Ong Tu and Tammy have an argument and Ong Tu and Ong Nam leave the house to find solace in a snow storm. \nWith a beautiful traditional melody\, the movie was adapted from a theatrical drama of the same name by theatre director and playwright Thanh Hoang.   It highlights the country’s traditional culture and close relationship among friends and family. \nIt was released on 22 March 2017\,  and won a number of awards including: \nVietnamese Golden Kite Awards for Best Feature Film and Best Music Score \nSelected to represent Vietnamese films competing in 2017 ASEAN film award \nOne reviewer commented … that this film portrays Vietnamese heart on its sleeve earnestness and looks at the importance of family and cross-cultures. The feeling of loneliness and being a ‘fish out of water’ portrayed by the lead character is poignant\, and balanced with a humorous ‘grumpy old men’ interaction with his friend. \nLocation: TPD – The Centre for Development of Movie Talent\, 51 Tran Hung Dao\, Hanoi. \nMinimum of 10 people needed for film night. \nRSVP to Van  phuongvan272@gmail.com \nNotes: \n\nYour reservation is not confirmed until you receive our reply email.\nPlease arrive by 7.15pm latest to collect and pay for your ticket at TPD. As a courtesy to those on the waiting list – please cancel if you can’t come.\nReserved seating tickets are allocated on a first come – first served basis.\nParking fees @ the TPD courtyard – 5\,000 vnd motorbike; 3\,000 vnd for a cycle\nMax 40 people\n\nPlease follow and like us:Share this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)Click to share on Google+ (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Like this:Like Loading...
