SUMMARY:Kaleidoscope Viet - Hanoi Community Radio - SHOW 3
DESCRIPTION:Tune into our FVH Kaleidoscope Viet show on the last Sunday of each  month 4pm on HCR (Hanoi Community Radio).  https://www.hanoicommunityradio.com/ \nBig thanks to the HCR team for including FVH in this new community. Each month we feature a cultural or heritage topic in a podcast/magazine/documentary style show. \nWe upload each show to our FVH youtube channel after each broadcast and will inform you through our mailings. \nSHOW 3 \nNguyễn Văn Quỳ was born on 2 January 1925 in Hanoi. His three biggest loves in life are Vietnam\, music\, and teaching.  He took his inspiration from Vietnamese traditional music and French Romanticism. He composed nine sonatas for the violin and piano between 1964 and 2003\, as well as many songs. His prolific composition led to the nickname “Vietnamese Beethoven.” Beethoven wrote 10 sonatas for the violin and piano\, and among Quỳ’s nine sonatas\, at least five are well known by a great many music lovers of this genre of chamber music. Maestro Quỳ’s sonatas have been used in music teaching at the Vietnamese National Conservatory. No other composer since Beethoven has written as many as nine sonatas for the violin and piano.   Quỳ graduated from the French École Universelle and he studied under French composer and pianist Adolphe Borchard. He taught at Trường Đại học Sư Phạm Hà Nội (Hanoi National University of Education) from 1956-1978.  He has been awarded the second prize of the Vietnam Musician Association for his Sonata No.4 (1995) and Sonata No.8 (2005). In 2009\, he received the Cultural Heritage Patrimoenia Award at the Swiss Embassy in Hanoi. \nIn our Kaleidsocope Viet show we pay tribute to Quỳ – the man\, the work and his story. This is part 1 of 2 documentary style shows about Quỳ (part 2 will be in November). \n  \nPlease follow and like us:Share this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)Click to share on Google+ (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Like this:Like Loading...\n\n	Related\n
