SUMMARY:Cultural Series (p.m): Hồ Chí Minh Thought and Uncle Hồ paper bank note printing factory
DESCRIPTION:In mid May\, depending on the FVH calendar\, we try to schedule a lecture with Lam on Hồ Chí Minh Thought in honour of Hồ Chí Minh’s birthday.  Born in 1890 he would have been 136 years old this year (19 May). As our excursion on 17 May could not take place\, we can now schedule a lecture on the topic of his ideology. But this year its with a difference. Dr Trần Doãn Lâm will touch on Hồ Chí Minh Thought but cover it in less detail in order to tailor it to part 2 of the lecture with Đỗ Đình Thắng Ph.D. Thắng will share information about the first north Vietnamese bank note printing factory\, now a museum in Hòa Bình.  We were inspired to do so as we had planned to visit this location as part of the 17 May excursion. \nThắng’s grandfather bought the money printing factory from the original French owner and donated it to Hồ Chí Minh’s government. His grandfather was a great patriot and very close to Uncle Hồ. The paper bank note factory was then moved from Hanoi to the Chi Nê plantation\, which was owned by Thắng’s family. So FVH has a unique opportunity to hear from someone directly connected to this historical topic and the start of Vietnam’s paper bank notes.  Later in the year we will be arranging a visit to the factory museum with Lâm and Thắng as our guides. \nIts short notice we didn’t want to miss an opportunity when Lâm and Thắng are both available. \nSummary of this 2-part lecture: \n\nHồ Chí Minh Thought. President Hồ Chí Minh took the path to socialism\, which the Communist Party of Vietnam and the nation have followed ever since. His ideology is a political philosophy based on Marxism-Leninism as well as traditional VN values\, Eastern cultural thought\, Western ideologies\, and his own personal morality\nThe paper bank note printing factory that produced the “President Hồ” banknotes (1945-54)\n\nPlease RSVP to stella@fvheritage.org \nVND 250\,000 includes donation to our hosts and venue \nNumbers: 8 to 20 pax \nVenue: Dinh Lang Viet Space\, in the heart of the Trung Tu/Dang Van Ngu dormitory area.  For those not familiar with the venue detailed information will be sent to those confirmed on the event. \n(allow 2.5 hours but may be longer given the topic) \nPlease follow and like us:Share this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)Click to share on Google+ (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Like this:Like Loading...\n\n	Related\n
