SUMMARY:50 years on - the story of The Paris Peace Accords
DESCRIPTION:Spaces available as we can take more people \n30 April is a public holiday in Vietnam – this is Reunification Day\, Liberation Day\, or its official name Day of Southern Liberation for National Reunification. \nAnd\, this year 2023 is the 50th anniversary of the Paris Peace Accords. \nHence\, perfect timing for a small group of us to explore a fascinating exhibition on show at Archives Centre 3 dedicated to ‘the road to Paris’ and the milestones to how the Agreement on ‘Ending the War and Restoring Peace in Vietnam’ (official name) came about.  After nearly 5 years of negotiations in Paris\, the peace treaty was signed on 27 January 1973\, bringing about peace in Vietnam and the end the American War.  Four parties met round the table – the governments of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam)\, the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam)\, the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam. and the US. \n \nThe Archives have created such an informative and historic exhibition selecting a huge number out of an even bigger volume of documents and artefacts they hold to tell the story. \nAfter touring the exhibition\, the 2nd part of the morning is a short presentation and more detailed discussion with archives staff and contributors about the exhibition content\, how the documents and artefacts on show were chosen and general Q&A on the Accords.  And 5-6 veterans from the little known group – Camp Davis – will attend to share their stories of the roles they played in enforcing the Accords in the South in the post-Accords period. \nplease rsvp to stella@fvheritage.org \nLunch is now included for those who would like to stay for lunch \nVietnamese with ENG translation. \nVenue Archives Centre 3\, 34 Phan Ke Binh\, near Lotte\, off Lieu Giai.
