SUMMARY:FVH film night - Dòng Máu Anh Hùng / The Rebel
DESCRIPTION:The film “The Rebel (Dòng Máu Anh Hùng)” directed by Charlie Nguyen.  Starring Johnny Tri Nguyen\, Dustin Nguyen and Veronica Ngo. \nThe movie is set in French-occupied Vietnam in 1922\, where peasant rebellions against the French colonialists have erupted throughout the country. In response\, the French have created units of Vietnamese secret agents to track down and eliminate the rebels.  One of the agents is Le Van Cuong who begins to struggle and question his allegiance.  When a high ranking French official is assassinated Cuong’s job is to find and kill the Vietnamese resistance leader. He meets Vo Thanh Thuy\, the resistance leader’s daughter who is captured and imprisoned. Coung informs her of a plot against the resistance organization and helps her escape. He then becomes a fugitive too. In the meantime he falls in love with Thuy and eventually finds a cause worth fighting for. \nThe movie combines elements of a period drama\, action\, martial arts and romance into a patriotic thriller. It makes a welcome entry into the world of some of the best Vietnamese martial arts films. The movie portrays the look and feel of early 20th century Vietnam particularly through the beautiful scenery of Hanoi and Hoi An ancient town. \nThe Rebel won prestigious Vietnamese cinematic awards including: Best Feature Film\, Best Art Design and Best Actress in the  2007 Vietnam Film Festival Awards. It also featured in various international film festivals including the 2007 Bangkok International Film Festival\, the Austin Film Festival and the Hawaii International Film Festival. \nFilm is 100-minute long with English subtitles. \nlocation: TPD – The Centre for Development of Movie Talent\, 51 Tran Hung Dao\, Hanoi. \nYour reservation is not confirmed until you receive our reply email. \nPlease arrive by 7.15pm latest to collect and pay for your ticket at TPD.
