SUMMARY:Hanoi City Walk (English a.m.): ecology of the Red River bank with Think Playgrounds
DESCRIPTION:This city walk is one with a difference for FVH as we team up with Think Playgrounds (TPG) to explore the natural environment: Red River side. TPG is a social enterprise set up with a mission to promote children’s “Right to play” through constructing friendly playgrounds\, as well as the organisation and development of sustainable green public spaces in Hanoi. \nThe tour is spit into 2 parts. \nPart 1. We take the route from our starting point and learn about the history of the Red River and its relationship to commerce in Hanoi. We’ll pass through the residential areas near Long Bien Market before arriving at what is known as the ‘Chương Dương forest park’  for the 2nd part. \nPart 2. Walking the ecology trail along the Phúc Tân/ Chương Dương area. The high biodiversity of the Red River bank is a rarity in highly urbanized Hanoi\, which boasts more than 200 native tree species and 100 wild bird species. \nThis walk is looked after by Linh on our FVH committee (who is also a TPG volunteer) and 2 of the TPG team who will explain more about the fascinating natural environment and the interactions and regeneration of the six storm ecosystems. \n  \n A little bit of info on TPG \nThink Playgrounds (TPG) is a Hanoi-based social enterprise set up to protect the unique biodiversity of the Red River through the creation of inclusive meeting places on the edge of deprived neighbourhoods and along the abandoned/under used river bank.  Many of these areas have long been strewn with litter\, overlooked\, and with informal neighborhoods housing migrant workers with little recreational space.  TPG works alongside local residents and experts (and public art artists – e.g the 16 artists responsible for the Phúc Tân wall installation)\, to transform wastelands into sustainable public spaces. \nAll payment goes to TPG to support them in their valuable work (same price for all 350\,000VND pp) \nMeeting point: those confirmed on the walk will be sent the welcome email and meeting point near the Red River \nPlease RSVP:   Registration via this link by 17 April: Link \nNumbers:  as we have a number of people leading this walk we can take up to 20 people (min 10pax max 20 pax) (waiting list once spaces are filled) \nPlease email if any problems or questions to hello@fvheritage.org or to Linh at fvh.excursion@gmail.com \nThe welcome email will be sent to those confirmed  1-2 days before the walk.  Once you RSVP via the form you should receive an automatic  “receipt” email confirming sign up. \n  \n©1999 Friends of Vietnam Heritage.
