SUMMARY:Hanoi City Walk (ENG) – Buildings & Barbers\, a Battle & Burials
DESCRIPTION:AS OF 10 SEPTEMER MAX 3 SPACES AVAILABLE \nToday 17 September is the mid Autumn festival – it is the 15th day of the 8th lunar month.  The Kim Lien to Tay Son walk is run only on the 1st or 15th of the lunar months as we need to go inside the last venue which is more likely to be open on one of these dates. \nWelcome to an FVH Hanoi City walk that is longer and we make it into a half day walk as it can last min 3.5 hours up to 4 hours. So we are in no rush and we take our time. We start at Kim Liên Temple/Communal House on  Xã Đàn Street and end in Tây Sơn street (not far from the Novotel hotel). \nWe start early at 8.30am. \nWhile planning this walk 4 themes emerged hence its name. We walk through 2 khu tập thể /old condominiums\, we discover the origins of Hanoi’s street barbers\, hear the stories of the liberation of the Thăng Long Citadel in 1789 and end where houses are built side by side to an ancient mausoleum area.  And this is the only walk going over 3 pedestrian overpass bridges. \nCompared to other walks this one is longer\, packed with a lot more detail of certain areas; there is a lot of info to take in but we think its worth it and is a particularly good walk for those who have been in Hanoi a long time. \nNumbers. ideally 6 people\, very max 8 people \nRSVP to stella@fvheritage.org \nExact meeting and end points will be in the welcome email for those confirmed on the walk. Please note they are not near each other \n  \n©1999 Friends of Vietnam Heritage. All rights reserved.
