SUMMARY:Half-day village excursion (p.m) + tote bag workshop. Vạn Phúc silk village & Vụn Art
DESCRIPTION:AFTERNOON HALF DAY EXCURSION \nSOME VAN PHUC SILK HISTORY \nVạn Phúc  Silk Village (also known as Ha Dong Silk Village) is located in Vạn Phúc  Ward\, Ha Dong District\, 10 km far from the centre of Hanoi\, next to the Nhue River. According to ancient books\, documents and relics the weaving craft of Vạn Phúc  village arose in the 9th century. Vạn Phúc  is considered the most beautiful and famous silk-weaving village in Vietnam. Despite urbanization\, the  village retains typical features of Vietnam’s countryside with ancient trees\, wells and village markets around the pavillion. \nIts silk was first introduced in 1931 to the international market at the Marseille Fair and was regarded by the French as the most sophisticated product of Indochina. In 1958\,. Vạn Phúc silk was exported to eastern Europe and it has long been exported all around the world. \nThis is the village’s long-term occupation which sees villagers combining into its silk production line. A number of small businesses have merged into big silk businesses producing richer and richer products. \nTOUR AND WORKSHOP \nIn this half-day excursion\, we will explore some of the history of Vạn Phúc village as well as get to know the traditional silk-making process at some of the local workshops. The 2nd half will be  learning about the craft of making collages from discarded silk scraps with Vun Art. \nVun Art is a local social enterprise (much loved by Hanoi’s community) which has created sustainable livelihoods for a number of handicapped people in the village.  The Vun Art handicapped team will help us. \nEach time we partner with Vun Art we find they have developed more and more sophisticated products and we are so proud of how the enterprise has developed. \n  \nRSVP \nImages of the products we will make are in the google registration form. One person one product. Please complete the form and click on the section towards the end under Tote bag with rattan strap sample to select which image you would like to collage onto your bag. This is one Vun Art’s newest products \n Please register via this link DEADLINE 7t May (we need time to place the order with Vun Art) \nhttps://forms.gle/TaRqjagEBYLCDVei7 \n1 registration form per person \nmax 7 people \n400\,000 VND per person (1 price for everyone) to include tour and workshop and your bag to take away with you. It also means you can arrive earlier or stay later and spend more time browsing. \nVietnamese with ENG interpretation. \n  \nPlease follow and like us:Share this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)Click to share on Google+ (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Like this:Like Loading...\n\n	Related\n
