DESCRIPTION:THIS IS NOW FULL\, THANKS \n  \nĐền Đồng Cổ Loyalty and Fidelity Oath festival (Bưởi ward\, Hanoi) – Hội thề Trung Hiếu \nĐền Đồng Cổ (Đồng Cổ temple) dates back to 1028 during the Lý Dynasty. It worships the sacred Trống Đồng god\, associated with the Loyalty Oath and profound morality\, emanating from the reign of King Lý Thái Tông – the 2nd Lý Dynasty king and eldest son of King Lý Thái Tổ (Lý Công Uẩn). \nIn Thanh Hóa Province there was a temple with the same name and King Lý Thái Tông led a campaign to central Vietnam to fight the invaders. When he came to worship at the temple in Thanh Hóa the deity revealed enemy secrets and strategies\, guiding him to victory in the battle. As a gesture of gratitude for the deity’s divine help\, the king brought the deity’s ancestral tablet to Đền Đồng Cổ in Hanoi. The deity continued to appear and help him during his reign (including warning him of a plot being hatched by his 3 younger brothers to kill him and seize the throne) … from that moment on\, the Loyalty and Fidelity Oath Ceremony (Hội thề Trung Hiếu) was established and kings ever since the Lý Dynasty continued to uphold this tradition. Ever since then most years the Loyalty and Fidelity festival is held at the temple – this year is the 997th occasion. \nThe Secretary of the Bưởi Ward People’s committee has invited a small group of FVH members to attend this year’s festival and observe the ceremony. \nLocation: Đền Đồng Cổ\, Bưởi ward (between Thụy Khuê  and Hoàng Hoa Thám) \nTiming: TBC but probably starting around 7.15am\, it’s a morning event \nDate: this year it falls on 1 May 2025 solar calendar \nNumbers: max 10 people\, currently space for 6 people \nRSVP: stella@fvheritage.org \nWe are coordinating  a small group of FVH members to attend at the invitation of the People’s committee – who will be preparing for our attendance. \nIf you would like to join us please RSVP the deadline to submit the below information is by 10pm Monday 21 April: \n\nFulI ID name\nPassport/VN ID number\nJob title and place of work\nWhere you live in Hanoi\nNationality\n\nThis is the first time are attending this important and formal ceremony\, and we are new to the People’s committee. \nIt is an honour for us to be invited\, this is one of the most important festivals that takes place in Hanoi.
