SUMMARY:Excursion – Tam Đảo and Animals Asia Bear sanctuary - FULL
DESCRIPTION:THIS TRIP IS FULL. PLEASE RSVP TO THE WAITING LIST OR MESSAGE US AT fvh.excursion@gmail.com \nWe try to make this an annual event and to support the bears rescued by Animals Asia. \nJoin us on our 4th visit over the past 5-6 years to the former French hill station of Tam Đảo\, 85 km northwest of Hanoi. Its higher elevation and cooler temperatures make it an attractive spot to escape the heat of Hanoi summer. The highlight of our excursion is a visit to the Vietnam Bear Rescue Centre\, run by Animals Asia.  The centre provides sun and moon bears rescued from illegal bear bile traders with a safe place to live\, heal and recover. More than 110 bears have been rescued to date; the sanctuary also gives work to local people. \nThe centre is open to visitors by special appointment only\, and the staff have informed us that the best time to arrive to see the bears is around 9am. Therefore given the time needed to Tam Dao we set off from Hanoi early\, but it will be worth the early start! \nAfter visiting the Bear Rescue Centre\, we will wander round Tam Đảo town.\, either at your lieisure or come with uas as we visit the church\, and a lovely pagoda complex up on a hill\, or the waterfalls.  Tam Dao town has many “cơm phở” restaurants and it is also known for its delicious “su su” vegetable\, fruits and wild chicken dishes. \nOutline plan for the day  \n7am Depart Hanoi – we must leave on time in order to arrive at the best time to see the bears \n9am Arriva Animals Asia Bear Sanctuary – spend time observing the bears\, which ends with an interesting film the centre has made on its important work and mission. \n11am heading into Tam Đảo town for lunch \nlunchtime  (either bring a picnic lunch with you or join us at a local restaurant cost appx 100\,000 – 150\,000vnd pp. Please bring your own water with you during the trip or you also can get it in town. \nAfter lunch – a chance to explore as much as possible of the following: \n\nThe old church in Tam Đảo\nHeaven’ Gate (rocky mountains 1\,500 above sea level and 35\,000 hectare national park\nBà Chúa Thượng Ngàn temple (Vietnamese goddess of forests and mountains)\nThác Bạc (silver) waterfall….\n\n4pm appx leaving Tam Dao area\, returning to Hanoi around 6pm/6.30pm \nPlease note the following guidelines at the bear sanctuary via this link \nhttps://drive.google.com/file/d/1QEmCEASaABMbsnl7O0HYTqoBLoZb4Czu/view \nWear masks and follow covid guidelines/policies in place at the centre \nPlease RSVP via this form https://forms.gle/EDHbRTRfFzxHMKx3A \nPlease fill the form in per person as we need to collate individual information for the bear sanctuary.  Please email us at hello@fvheritage.org if you have problems with the form or need further info. \nClosing date for RSVP is 12 April \nMeeting point.  Outside Pan Pacific Hotel\, Yên Phụ Street\, corner of Thanh Niên Street \n  \nPlease note at this changeable period due to COVID-19 that events are subject to government and local authority advice plus the agreement with our hosts; some events may need to be postponed at the last minute; we hope this won’t happen\, but we will keep you updated.  If you have any questions\, please contact us at hello@fvheritage.org.
