SUMMARY:Excursion - Thạch Xá Bamboo Dragonfly Village and Tây Phương Pagoda
DESCRIPTION:FVH event part of  the Vietnam Festival of Media & Design : Hanoi 2019 \n“CELEBRATING THE CREATIVE CITY” \nActivity: day excursion \nThạch Xá craft village (appx 35-40 km from Hanoi) is famous for its wonderfully famous coloured\, balancing bamboo dragonflies. Originally\, they were made for children; the trade has now blossomed into one of Vietnam’s leading crafts. We visit the village\, meet the first bamboo dragonfly making artisan\, learn how they are made and decorate our own dragonflies. \nThạch Xá is close to Tây Phương Pagoda dating from the 8th century. It features wonderful architectural woodcarvings and decorations and 62 beautiful wooden statues. The Pagoda complex consists of three buildings built in descending order on the hillside. \nDetailed programme: \n8:30 AM: Meet at the Pan Pacific hotel in Yen Phu\n8:45 AM: Depart to Thạch Xá Village\n9:45 AM: Reach Thạch Xá Village\, park in front of Tây Phương Pagoda\, and walk to the artisan’s house (10 minutes walking) to join the craft making session.\n11:45 PM: Lunch\n1:00 PM: Visit Tây Phương Pagoda\n2:00 PM: Return to Hanoi. We can have a short visit to the ancient Khum Bridge in Thạch Xá on the way (expect to be back in Hanoi around 3.30 PM) \nNotes: Lunch fee is not included in the participation fee.
