DESCRIPTION:Shamanism -the backbone of Tribal Culture. \nJoin us as Mark Rapoport discusses the tribal groups of Northern Vietnam and the persistence of their shamanistic traditions. The talk will focus on the importance of old and new artefacts\, paintings\, and ceremonial tools used by the shamans. Mark will also discuss the practice and ethics of being a collector of these fascinating objects. \nWe have a lot of expertise here. Mark is an avid collector of the tribal art of Vietnam (and Africa). His own substantial collection includes many paintings and tools used by tribal groups residing from Thái Nguyên to the mountains of the China border.
