DESCRIPTION:134 years ago on 19 May 1890 Hồ Chí Minh was born (and he died on 2 September 1969). Given that May 2024 is the 70th anniversary of the Diên Biên Phu victory and the fact this year 19 May falls on a Sunday which is a great day for a lecture this month we are looking at his legacy\, the man himself and his ideology. \nTo quote Britannica – ‘As the leader of the Vietnamese nationalist movement for nearly three decades\, Hồ was one of the prime movers of the post-World War II anti-colonial movement in Asia and one of the most influential communist leaders of the 20th century.’ \nPresident Hồ Chí Minh took the path to socialism\, which the Communist Party of Vietnam and the nation have followed ever since. His ideology is a political philosophy based on Marxism-Leninism.
