SUMMARY:Craft workshop – Indigo dyeing workshop - FULL
DESCRIPTION:THIS WORKSHOP IS FULL. PLEASE RSVP FOR THE WAITING LIST. THANKS \nThis is one of FVH’s regular craft workshops – but have not held it for a while. Dương thị Thanh and her team at the Indigo Store preserve and restore the traditional culture of the Black Tay ethnic minority in Sapa\, supporting 120 producers across 7 different ethnic minorities in the production of organic plants\, handmade textiles and employ disabled/deaf staff helping them with sustainable livelihoods etc. Incidenty the Indigo store was set up same time as FVH so we are the same age and it was the FVH committee at the time who suggested to Thanh she should run indigo dyeing workshops. \nIndigo is a deep rich violet-blue colour named after the indigo dye extracted from leaves of the Indigofera tincoria plant which grows in tropical climates. It is probably the most famous of all natural dyes made by crushing the plant leaves and fermenting them in water. \nThis is a great workshop for those particularly interested in: \n\nProduction of dyes particularly indigo dyes\nTextiles and design and in particular how they relate to the Tay culture\nEthnic minority cultures in general\n\nLearn  about how the indigo plant is grown\, how the dye is extracted and how indigo needs to be looked after just like a child.  We make/dye our own small square indigo tie-dye sample with the help of the Indigo store’s deaf/disabled staff. \nAmount: 250\,000 vnd pp same price for everyone (includes talk\, material and dye to make our sample\, and a donation to the ethnic minorities in Sapa to help keep alive this craft) \nVenue: The Indigo Store\, 33A Van Mieu street\, opposite the Temple of Literature \nMax: 10 people (min 5 people very max 10) \nDuration: 9.30am-11.00am \nThe are 2 ways to make the tie-dye sample. By stitching or using elastic bands.  Elastic bands is quicker and simpler. \nYou may want to bring an apron in case you get splashed with indigo \nPlease RSVP to stella  – stella@fvheritage.org \nPlease follow and like us:Share this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)Click to share on Google+ (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Like this:Like Loading...\n\n	Related\n
