SUMMARY:Art & Craft (a.m): Kim Hoàng folk art images painting on silk - waiting list
DESCRIPTION:THIS WORKSHOP IS NOW FULL. PLEASE RSVP FOR THE WAITING LIST. \nWe run a number of art workshops with 2 young artists Linh and Nhung\, who graduated from the Fine Arts University 2-3 years ago. They are often creating new workshops that we love to try out. \nThis silk painting workshop combines 2 art forms – the method and material of painting on silk\, and the images of Kim Hoàng folk art (NB – it is not a workshop using the Kim Hoàng folk painting and printing method – in the future we can arrange such a workshop with a Kim Hoàng artisan) \nWe start with a short presentation about the art of Kim Hoàng\, and then an an explanation about how to paint on silk. \nMaterials supplied – A4 framed silk\, paint\, images\, instruction. \nSome background info on Kim Hoàng folk art\nKim Hoàng village\, Hoài Đức Province (outskirts of Hà Nội) is famous for many specialties in agriculture and handicrafts\, such as weaving and embroidery \nKim Hoàng painting is believed have originated as far back as the Lý Dynasty (1009 – 1225) when it was used for printing Buddhist scriptures. Until the late 18th century\, the first Kim Hoàng painting was done according to the needs of the local people.  Similar to the tradition of other folk painting villages\, the art was taught among families. Each household possessed its own specific character. \nImages associated with Kim Hoàng paintings are associated with the village’s scholarly tradition\, myths and stories from classical literature (such as the tale of Kiều\, the story of the three kingdoms). Other images reflect the countryside lifestyle such as farm animals (chickens\, pigs\, buffalo)\, and village activities (farming\, bathing\, wrestling\, etc) \nUnlike its counterpart folk arts Đông Hồ and Hàng Trống\, most of the artworks associated with Kim Hoàng are created on red-dyed paper. Kim Hoàng art is more refined than Đông Hồ\, but not as sophisticated as Hàng Trống. \nThe colour palette of Kim Hoàng painting features white\, lavender\, light yellowish-green\, plum red\, pale yellow\, and vivid red. \nNumbers: min 5 and very max 8 people (for children above 10 years old) \nAmount pp: VND 450\,000 – this workshop price is a little higher than others as the cost of silk has risen. Same price for everyone (as we need to over material costs and workshop fee for the artists ). \nVenue:  Linh and Nhung’s workshop in  ngo Nui Truc (not far from the VNOB) near Kim Ma – full address will be sent to those confirmed on the workshop \nRSVP: to stella@fvheritage.org \nSuitable for all levels\, its OK if you have not done painting before. \nAllow 2.5hrs to 3 hours. \nPlease follow and like us:Share this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)Click to share on Google+ (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Like this:Like Loading...\n\n	Related\n
