SUMMARY:Afternoon music recital – songs from around the world and commemorating 25 years of VN-US relations. The Hope Choir
DESCRIPTION:The Hope Choir is a group of blind singers and folk musicians. They are an amazing choir – not because they are blind/severely visually impaired but because quite simply they are superb artists. \nWe are invited to an afternoon recital of various medleys from across the globe and a special selection of songs to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Vietnamese-US relations. \nWe hope as many people can attend as possible to support them.  The choir was formed about 15 years ago by pianist Tôn Thất Triêm and his opera singer wife Xuân Thanh. What they have achieved with minimal funds and little resource is incredible.  If you have not heard them perform before then they are one group of people you cannot miss. They are amazing\, so please come along if you can. If you already know the choir then they need no introduction. \nThey sing the songs in the language of that song – from Russian\, Spanish\, Sri Lankan\, to Portuguese\, English\, French\, Japanese etc. Triem teaches them the meaning of each word\, they transcribe the lyrics into braille and they learn the song from braille.  They need the support of the international community to keep going; the Embassy community has traditionally been a great support for them.  Some of them come from families where 2-3 of the  siblings are also blind. They come from lives which are very hard and yet for many they have made incredible personal achievements – even going abroad to study\, getting masters degrees. \nIf you would like to come\, and for more info and location please RSVP  to Stella . Please also spread the word. \nVenue: their blind centre 21b Lac Trung next to Nguyen Dinh Chieu school 3pm-5pm \nNo entry cost but we hope anyone attending  would like to make a donation which you can give to Triem – the choir relies on\, and needs\, community donations and support. \nThe choir recently sang with FVH at our 20th anniversary event when they surpassed themselves. FVH is proud to be long time partners with the Hope Choir. \nPlease follow and like us:Share this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)Click to share on Google+ (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Like this:Like Loading...\n\n	Related\n
